A Stronger Foster Care System

Byron and his wife Denise opened their home as foster parents to medically fragile children. He knows this system from the inside — and he knows how to fix it.

This one is personal. Byron and his wife Denise have opened their home as foster parents to medically fragile children — providing care, stability, and compassion to some of the community’s most vulnerable kids. As Byron puts it: “Every child deserves a safe, stable home, and every working family deserves a leader who actually understands their daily struggles.”

Lived experience, not a briefing paper

Byron will fight to expand resources for foster families, improve access to specialized medical care for medically fragile children, and ensure caregivers receive the training and support they need.

South Carolina’s foster care system depends on families like Byron and Denise’s. The state owes those families more than gratitude — it owes them a system that works.
